Musa Usman Abba, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and Plant Science and Biotechnology graduate of Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, has reportedly been k!lled by his abductors, even after his family paid a N10 million ransom for his release.

Abba was kidnapped on January 9, 2026, while travelling from Gusau to Sokoto State. His captors later contacted his family, demanding N10 million for his release. As the family struggled to gather the money, the bandits released a video showing Abba being tortured, in which he begged desperately for his life.

In the video, Abba could be seen gasping in pain, pleading: “Please help me, for God’s sake, please help my life. I may soon die in this situation.” He repeatedly invoked religious appeals, crying, “For the sake of Allah, please help me. For the sake of Prophet Muhammad, please help me,” but his pleas went unanswered.

With assistance from relatives and well-wishers, the family eventually raised the N10 million ransom. However, communication with the kidnappers abruptly stopped after the payment, raising fears that Abba had been killed. Sources close to the family revealed that the abductors had demanded additional items, including motorcycles, after the initial payment, but the family decided not to meet further demands following the sudden silence.

“Since receiving the N10 million ransom payment, Abba’s abductors have completely cut off all communication with the family,” the sources said.

The family has now made arrangements to hold his Janaza prayer (Gha’ib) on Friday, March 6, in accordance with Islamic rites, despite his body not being recovered.

They expressed gratitude to all who supported them during the ordeal, saying: “Abba’s family wishes to express profound gratitude to everyone who offered support, prayers, donations, and kind words during this difficult period. May the Almighty reward your generosity abundantly.”

The family also continued to pray for Abba’s safety, saying: “If he is still alive, we pray for his freedom. If he has passed on, may Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

As of press time, police authorities in the state have not commented on the development.

  1. I started writing down one thing at the end of every day — what I actually managed to do. Not a to-do list, not plans. Just one small win. It’s surprising how quickly it shifts your perspective.
