The Bauchi State Government has declared tomorrow, Friday, 28 November, a work-free day in honour of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi
In a statement issued today, Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed, announced that Friday, has been set aside as a work-free day across the state.
The statement read, “This declaration comes as a mark of respect and honour for late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, whose funeral prayer is scheduled to take place tomorrow in accordance with Islamic rites.
“The decision is meant to enable government workers, students, followers of the late scholar, and the general public to participate in the funeral prayers and pay their last respects.”
Gidado noted that the gesture is a mark of respect for the life and legacy of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, describing him as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose contributions to Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and the promotion of peace and moral values extended far beyond Bauchi State.
“The government recognises the profound impact of Sheikh Bauchi’s life and legacy—his dedication to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and the promotion of peace, unity, and moral uprightness across Nigeria and beyond,” the statement read.
