Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has appointed Chinese national Li Zhensheng as Economic Adviser to the state government, unveiling the decision during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi on Thursday
Mohammed said the appointment and partnership are designed to position Bauchi as a rising hub of international cooperation.

The long-term collaboration is expected to attract investment, drive infrastructure projects, and strengthen bilateral ties across agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade facilitation.
The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation, with specific projects to be agreed upon individually. As part of the deal, Bauchi State will open a Representative Office in China to oversee project execution and ensure timely delivery.
“This agreement is not just about infrastructure—it’s about transforming lives. We are opening Bauchi to the world,” Mohammed said, adding that the partnership aligns with the diplomatic vision of Presidents Xi Jinping and Bola Tinubu to deepen China–Nigeria relations at both national and subnational levels.
He emphasized that the initiative would boost foreign direct investment, create jobs, modernize key sectors, enhance skills, and raise Bauchi’s global profile.
Li Zhensheng, who also chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilize global resources to support Bauchi’s economic growth.
“We are committed to helping Bauchi achieve sustainable development, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods,” he said.
