A fresh student of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Markudi, Benue State, Felix Nyikyaa, who was reported to have dro.wned in the River Niger was recovered de.ad on Tuesday
Punch Metro learnt in a telephone conversation with the President of, the National Association of Benue State Students, Ashar Lubem, on Tuesday, that the students went missing on Sunday.
Lubem noted that after several searches by rescuers, the student’s body was found floating by the river bank.
He said, “The incident happened two days ago (Sunday) and rescuers searched for him. His body was found this morning (Tuesday).
“We are still looking into the situation to know maybe it was a case of drowning or he was killed because his body was seen floating by the river bank.”
He disclosed that even though the circumstances that led to his drowning could not be ascertained, the student association was working on contacting the family.
He expressed condolences to the family of the students while urging the students to be mindful of their well-being.
