Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of The Potter’s House in the U.S., experienced a medical emergency during his sermon on Sunday, November 24
While speaking at the Dallas-based church, he suddenly lowered his microphone and began shaking in his seat, prompting those nearby to rush to his aid.
In a statement, the church confirmed that Bishop Jakes “experienced a slight health incident” but received immediate medical attention after delivering his powerful hour-long sermon. The church reassured the public that “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” and expressed gratitude for the “outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”
Bishop Jakes’ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, provided an update on his condition through an Instagram video, alongside her husband, Toure Roberts. Sarah acknowledged the day’s events, saying, “Hey family, I know today’s been an interesting day for us, but we didn’t want to end the day without giving you an update about how everything is going with Bishop.”
She expressed appreciation for the prayers and support, noting, “We felt those prayers. Obviously, today could have been a tragic day, but it wasn’t, by the mercy of God, by the grace of God. Bishop is doing well, recovering, and under medical care. He’s strong, and we’re trying to get him to sit down. He’s the strong Bishop we know.”
