Bodies Of Six Children Still Missing As Boat Capsize In Lagos

Six children lost their lives yesterday after a canoe they boarded on their way to
school collided with a fibre boat causing their boat to capsize. However, eight of
the students and the driver are responding to treatment at the I
gando General Hospital, where they have been admitted. They were being ferried from Ojo to
    Irawe jetty in Lagos.

    The
spokesperson of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident and said the body of the six students who drowned has not been discovered.

    “The 14 school
children were being conveyed across Ojo to Irawe jetty, to school. Eight of the
children and the canoe driver have been rescued. Five have been taken to
Igando General Hospital for treatment, three have been discharged. Six children are yet to recover as I speak. Searches will continue tomorrow” he said. What a sad occurrence.
