Boris Johnson promises to deliver Brexit in January and claims NHS is top priority after landslide win
Boris Johnson says it is time to “let the healing begin” – holding out an olive branch to remainers in his first speech outside Number 10 after a thumping election win.
The Prime Minister promised a break from politics and Brexit over Christmas.
And thanked non-Conservatives for lending him their votes in last night’s decisive victory over Labour .
Mr Johnson said it was time for the country to go through a period of “closure” after a divisive period since the European referendum in 2016.
He told Remain voters he wanted them to know a “One Nation” Conservative Government would “never ignore” the “positive feelings of warmth and sympathy towards the other nations of Europe”.
The Prime Minister added: “I frankly urge everyone on either side of what are, after three-and-a-half years, a frequently arid argument, I urge everyone to find closure and to let the healing begin.”
