Warren Dowling, a lively 10-year-old, passed away suddenly from an asthma attack, leaving his family devastated.
His mom, Belinda, remembers how Warren seemed fine all day at school, but later struggled to breathe. “Your life can change in a moment,” she says, remembering when Warren turned blue and stopped breathing, despite efforts to save him.
The number of asthma-related deaths has risen by 27% since 2015, totaling around 1,500 loss of lives per year. Sadly, many of these deaths are preventable. Research reveals that delayed or inadequate follow-up care after emergency hospital visits is a significant risk factor for asthma patients.
Belinda and her family’s loss serve as a stark reminder of the seriousness of asthma. Warren’s sudden passing has left a profound void in their lives, a reminder that every breath is precious.
