According to a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson to Nigeria’s Vice President, the visit marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s South-South diplomacy and is expected to produce significant breakthroughs in key areas such as agriculture, energy, and industrial development.

Alckmin and his delegation were warmly welcomed by top Nigerian government officials, including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha; and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari.

Speaking at the reception, Hadejia described the visit as “a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” stressing the importance of deepening ties with Brazil.

“This dialogue mechanism reflects our dedication to building strong South-South partnerships that deliver real value to our people. Brazil’s leadership in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial growth aligns seamlessly with Nigeria’s development priorities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

The three-day summit will conclude with the signing of more than 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), covering areas such as defence cooperation, agricultural technology transfer, energy partnerships, and cultural exchange initiatives—ushering in a new chapter in Nigeria-Brazil relations.
