A 16-year-old boy and six girls have been abducted from Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
According to Daily Trust, Gidan-Bijimi shares a boundary with Marke village near the Kaduna state border. A local resident, Suleiman Shuaibu, confirmed the incident to reporters on Thursday morning.

According to Shuaibu, armed bandits wielding AK-47 rifles raided two houses in the community around 9:47 pm, abducting six girls aged between 17 and 23, along with a 16-year-old boy. Sporadic gvnfire during the attack threw residents into panic.
Some local vigilantes attempted to confront the attackers but were forced to retreat due to the bandits’ superior firepower. Shuaibu added that some residents have fled their homes and that efforts to contact the abductors have so far been unsuccessful.
The incident comes days after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike directed enhanced security measures across Abuja, including improved surveillance at borders and entry points. A joint taskforce comprising the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies have been deployed to various parts of the capital.
