In response to the ongoing hunger protests and a recent bomb explosion, Borno State has declared a 24-hour curfew
The announcement was made by Police Spokesman Nahum Kenneth Daso on Thursday, citing security concerns and the need to maintain law and order.
The curfew follows a tragic incident on Wednesday, where a bomb exploded at a local tea joint, resulting in 16 confirmed deaths and several injuries.
Although sources reported a higher death toll of 19, the police confirmed 16 fatalities.
The police statement explained that the curfew was declared in consultation with the state’s executive governor, Prof. Babagana Umar Zulum, and heads of security agencies.
The goal is to restore law and order, and the public is urged to remain calm and law-abiding.
The curfew is effective immediately, and further updates will be communicated to the public as necessary.
This measure aims to address the current security challenges and ensure public safety in Borno State.
