A Federal High Court in Lagos has discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in the long-running money laundering case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

The court, in its ruling upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, stating that the EFCC failed to establish a prima facie case that would require the former governor to enter a defence.
Fayose had faced allegations of fr@ud and money laundering allegedly committed during his tenure as governor.
However, after years of legal battles, the court concluded that the prosecution’s evidence was not strong enough to sustain the charges.
