Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP)

El-Rufai submitted his resignation letter to his ward in Kaduna State, citing a growing disconnect between his values and the direction of the APC. He accused the ruling party of abandoning the progressive ideals on which it was founded.
In his statement, El-Rufai urged his supporters and other concerned Nigerians to join him in the SDP, emphasizing the need for a strong democratic alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His defection marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, as the former governor was once a key figure within the APC.
