Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has endorsed his immediate former Commissioner for Works, Mustapha Gubio, as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC)
The development was confirmed minutes ago by the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Dauda Iliya, who said Gubio fits into the administration’s long-term vision and would be able to consolidate ongoing projects and policies.
“Gubio represents continuity. He understands the vision of this administration and has the capacity to build on its achievements,” Iliya said.
The endorsement was further reflected in a widely circulated photograph shared by the governor’s aide, showing Gubio formally presenting his expression of interest and nomination documents to Zulum.
