Barcelona is set to appoint Hansi Flick as their new top-tier coach, according to Fran Miguel
The former Bayern Munich coach has agreed to a two-year contract and has long dreamed of managing the Catalan club.
A final meeting with Barcelona’s management will take place after the season concludes to formalize the agreement.
This development follows Xavi’s announcement to step down as head coach after a 3-5 defeat to Villarreal.
Although initially convinced to stay, Xavi’s comments during a press conference before the Almería match, stating the club’s financial limitations in competing with Real Madrid for trophies, angered Joan Laporta, leading to his dismissal.
Flick, who has been out of work since his departure from the German national team in September, previously led Bayern Munich to a treble in the 2019/20 season.
With Barcelona securing second place in La Liga with one round remaining, the club looks forward to a new chapter under Flick’s leadership.
