All the schoolchildren abducted from St Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community of Niger State have regained their freedom, following the release of the remaining 130 captives. This brings the total number of students freed to 230
Confirmation of the final release was given on Sunday by officials of the Office of the National Security Adviser, who spoke with ARISE News Channel.
The development ends days of fear and uncertainty for parents and relatives, while marking a major success for the security agencies involved in the operation.
The pupils were taken after armed men stormed the boarding school, an incident that sparked public outrage and reignited national debate over the safety of schools across the country.
Authorities attributed the full release to sustained pressure on the abductors and coordinated security efforts, as renewed calls grow louder for stronger school security measures and firm action to prevent similar attacks in the future.
