Authorities in Saudi Arabia have fixed Friday, March 20, 2026, for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan
The decision followed the non-sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, confirming that Ramadan will complete its full 30 days, with fasting ending on Friday.

The announcement was shared on Wednesday via HaraminInfo social media platforms, stating, “The crescent moon has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, #EidAlFitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026.
“May Allāh allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl and may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn.”
Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria had earlier declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.
