Following the decision, Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who is now to assume duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State for Finance.

In the same development, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been appointed as ministerial nominee and designated Minister for Housing and Urban Development.

The memo also instructed Dangiwa to formally hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

According to the directive, all handing over and taking over processes are expected to be completed on or before close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the changes, Akume said the reshuffle is aimed at improving coordination in governance and strengthening economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.

Akume also noted that Tinubu appreciated the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavours, while assuring that further adjustments in the cabinet would continue as part of ongoing government reforms.
