The Ghanaian Judicial Council has suspended 22 judges
accused of bribery after they were captured on video. The Judicial Council is
also said to be probing the conduct of 12 high court judges and several other
court officials, who had been mentioned in the video.

A statement released by the council read; The council fully
reckons that the perception or actuality of corruption in the judiciary
undermines confidence in the institution and cannot be tolerated to continue in
any shape or form, hence the need to act with utmost dispatch,’’ it said.
It further disclosed that the suspension would pave way for
    further investigation.
The video was recorded by undercover agents and released by
an investigative journalist. The video however brought about calls for the sack
of the affected persons. It has been described as the biggest scandal in the history
    of Ghana’s judiciary.
