A British tourist has been found de.ad near a swimming pool in Greece, as three people were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter
The 78-year-old was swimming in her hotel pool in Hersonissos, Crete, on Sunday afternoon when she reportedly fell ill and got out of the water.
Minutes later, the woman was found collapsed by a sun-lounger by shocked bathers.
The Brit was given first aid before emergency services arrived on the scene and rushed her to hospital, where she later died.
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by negligence, including a 21-year-old lifeguard who was supposed to be on duty at the time, as well as the hotel’s director, 51, and the general manager, 41.
All three suspects have been released on bail and police have launched an investigation to determine the woman’s cause of de.ath.
