Jin, the oldest member of BTS, the South Korean boy band, has begun his mandatory military service.

In October, the Big Hit Music, the band’s management company, announced that the band members will enlist for their military service — with Jin expected to be the first to go for the mandatory service.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, the band shared a group picture wherein they all bid Jin goodbye.

They also wished him good luck in the military service.

“Our brother, come back safely. Love you,” the caption reads.

Jin had earlier shared a photo of himself with a new haircut while stating it was in preparation for his military service.

On Tuesday, he began his 18 months military service. He will start with his five-week training at a frontline boot camp in Yeoncheon.

Big Hit Music also stated there will be no “official event” to commemorate Jin’s enlistment.

Fans were also requested to refrain from visiting him.

“Jin will fulfill his required time with the military by enlisting in the army. Please note that we will not be holding any kind of official event on the day of his recruitment,” the statement reads.

“The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. In order to prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, we ask fans to please refrain from visiting the site. Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts.”
