Businessman Employs Two SANs To Drag It Out In Court With UCH Over Sudden Death Of Wife

The management of University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan
and a businessman, Aare Femi Adebayo, have drawn a battle line over the death
of his wife, Mrs Funmilayo Adebayo. According to the husband of the deceased,
the death of his wife was caused by incompetence and negligence on the part of
medical experts that conducted a test on her.
The woman was said to have gone to the teaching hospital for
routine medical check-up, but died in the process. While insisting that his
wife, who did not complain of any ailment, was killed due to negligence on the
part of the hospital, the widower has sought the services of two Senior
Advocates of Nigeria, Akin Olujinmi and Rotimi Akeredolu, to write the
management of the hospital to release the report of a post-mortem test
conducted on the deceased within seven days.

He said his wife, aged 58, had, on January 25, driven
herself to UCH in company of a housemaid, Odunayo, for medical check up which
she had started a week earlier.
When Vanguard called the hospital, the Public Affairs
Manager, Mr. Deji Bobade, said the hospital would respond at the appropriate
time. He said: “The Chief Medical Director, Professor Temitope Alonge, is not
in the country. He travelled abroad. Our response will be in tandem with values
and traditions that guide medical practice.”
