The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled October 8, 2026, to hear the appeal lodged by the Senegalese Football Federation over the disputed outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final
In a statement released on Friday, CAS confirmed that the hearing will be held at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The case involves the Senegalese Football Federation, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
Senegal is contesting CAF’s decision to award Morocco a 3-0 victory after ruling that the Teranga Lions forfeited the AFCON 2025 final. The federation is also asking CAS to overturn the decision and declare Senegal the tournament champions.
According to CAS, the appeal was officially filed on March 25, 2026.
“The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirms a hearing has been scheduled for the procedure between the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation concerning the final of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
“The hearing will take place on 8 October 2026, at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland,” the statement read.
CAS explained that the appeal will follow its normal timetable because the parties involved did not agree to an expedited process.
“The Parties did not agree to expedite this procedure, which is therefore following a standard timeline according to CAS procedural rules,” the statement said.
The arbitration body added that the hearing date was fixed after consultations with all parties and noted that the proceedings will be held behind closed doors because no request was made for a public hearing.
“This means it will take place behind closed doors,” CAS stated.
CAS also clarified that no decision will be announced on the day of the hearing, explaining that its panel will only begin deliberations after hearing arguments from all parties.
“After the hearing, the Panel will start its deliberations. At this stage, CAS cannot state when a final decision will be rendered but it will not be on the day of the hearing,” the statement added.
The court further cautioned against misinformation surrounding the case, stressing that only updates released through its official communication channels should be regarded as authentic.
“Only information provided through CAS channels is considered official and any announcement concerning this case will be published on the CAS website,” it said.
