
The South African runner who has been bashed with controversy of high testosterone levels claimed victory at the Olympics on Saturday as she won gold in the 800-meter.
Semenya won her first Olympic gold in a personal-best of one minute 55.28 seconds – a national record and one of the top 20 times ever in the two-lap race.
Burundi’s Francine Niyonsaba took silver over a second behind the dominant Semenya. Kenya’s Margaret Wambui took bronze in an all-African podium.
