The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has removed Ellie Bitar, a representative of CBEX Solutions Ltd., from its wanted list after fresh evidence absolved him of involvement in a large-scale cryptocurrency fraud tied to the controversial Crypto Bridge Exchange
The update comes as the EFCC intensifies its investigation into what it has described as a “monumental fraud” allegedly carried out by multiple individuals through CBEX — a digital asset platform accused of defrauding numerous investors.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the anti-graft agency announced: “Ellie Bitar of CBEX Solutions Ltd., who was earlier declared wanted, has since been removed from the list owing to new information that does not support his inclusion in the wanted person’s list.”
While the EFCC did not disclose the specifics of the new evidence, it confirmed that the ongoing investigation is yielding significant leads.
Meanwhile, eight individuals remain on the Commission’s wanted list in connection with the same scheme. They are:
Seyi Oloyede
Emmanuel Uko
Adefowora Oluwanisola
Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun
Johnson Okiroh Ofienolu
Israel Mbalika
Joseph Michiro Kabera
Serah Michiro
“The EFCC is gaining important ground in its search for eight wanted persons implicated in the fraud,” the agency said.
The Commission also revealed it is working in collaboration with international law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend all suspects.
“Law enforcement agencies across the world are collaborating with us in tracking and arresting all the wanted persons. The EFCC will not relent in bringing every actor involved in the fraudulent dealings to book,” the statement concluded.
