Tika the Iggy, the stylish Italian greyhound with a massive online following, has passed away
Her owner, Thomas Shapiro, shared the sad news on social media Tuesday.
Shapiro explained that Tika had two liver tumors and underwent surgery to remove them on the advice of veterinarians.
Initially, the operation was successful, and Tika returned home without complications. She enjoyed her favorite meal, chicken, that first night, and everything seemed fine.
However, on the second day after surgery, Tika appeared unusually tired and not quite herself. While vets initially attributed it to post-surgery medication, it soon became clear that her body was slowly failing. She spent her final moments peacefully at home with her family.
Tika, who was 14, had more than 1.6 million Instagram followers. She became an internet sensation for her fashionable outfits, earning titles like “a new fashion it girl” and “the Anna Wintour of dogs.”
