Chidimma Adetshina has addressed criticism surrounding her victory, emphasizing that her win was a result of hard work and dedication, rather than sympathy votes

Adetshina faced challenges earlier in the year, when her mother was accused of fraud and identity theft, which led to her withdrawal from a beauty pageant in South Africa.
Despite facing xenophobic backlash, she went on to compete in and won the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
In an interview with Arise TV, Adetshina stressed that her experiences and efforts were comparable to those of her fellow contestants, and that she earned her win through perseverance and hard work.
