In his Children’s Day message, Tinubu emphasized that his government remains committed to ensuring that all Nigerian children are protected, valued, and empowered to grow into the nation’s future leaders. He described children as the strength and hope of Nigeria, calling for continued efforts to nurture them in safe and respectful environments.

“Every child in Nigeria deserves to feel protected, cared for, and free to pursue their dreams without fear,” the President said.

This year’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” was described by Tinubu as both timely and important. He expressed concern over the growing issue of bullying in schools and online, noting that it significantly impacts children’s ability to learn and thrive.

Citing research, Tinubu highlighted that a large number of Nigerian children have experienced bullying — physically, emotionally, or socially — and assured that his administration is taking action to address it.

He revealed that the government is fully rolling out the National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children (2024–2030). The plan outlines key strategies for preventing abuse, prosecuting offenders, and providing support for victims.

Additionally, the President announced that laws such as the Child Rights Act and the Violence Against Persons Act are being reviewed to strengthen their effectiveness. He also noted that all 36 states have now adopted the Child Rights Act — a major step in uniting the nation to protect children’s rights.

However, Tinubu stressed that legal measures alone are not enough. He urged parents, teachers, religious leaders, and citizens at large to actively participate in safeguarding children’s well-being.

He also highlighted the government’s use of digital tools like the Child Protection Information Management System to quickly track and respond to cases of abuse, ensuring timely interventions.

As the nation celebrated its youngest citizens, Tinubu called on Nigerians to work together in raising a generation free from violence, fear, and discrimination.
