Coachella FINED $117,000 For Breaking City Curfew

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was fined $117,000 by the city of Indio over curfew violations.

A city representative told TMZ that the six-figure total was in connection with three consecutive evenings of violations totaling more than an hour and 10 minutes in time past the deadline for the popular music festival.

Officials told the outlet that the curfew on Fridays and Saturdays is 1 a.m., and midnight on Sundays.

The festival missed its mark on all three evenings, officials told the outlet, going over the respective deadlines by 25 minutes, 22 minutes and 25 minutes.

The $117,000 total in fines was derived from promoter Goldenvoice’s pact with the city, insiders told TMZ. The contract stipulates a $20,000 for the initial five minutes over curfew, with a $1,000 fine for every minute the show ran past deadline past that.

The monies collected go to the city’s general fund, which finances operations costs, public services and police and fire departments, according to the outlet.

The contact the promoter has with the Southern California desert city has been in place for 10 years and is in place through the year 2050, according to TMZ.
