
Comedy Store owner Mitzi Shore has died at the age of 87. Mitzi was best known for founding the legendary Los Angeles club in 1972 and becoming the owner two years later.
During her time in charge, Mitzi helped kick-start the careers of a generation of budding comedians including Robin Williams, Jay Leno, Jim Carrey and Chris Rock.
A statement from the comedy store announced news of Mitzi’s death today, where she was described as a ‘legendary godmother’ of the club.
“It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that we report the passing of Mitzie Shore, the legendary Godmother of the world famous Comedy Store,” the statement read.
