Conor McGregor Is Hit By Car While Cycling
Conor McGregor has been hit by a car whilst out cycling on his bike.
The MMA fighter posted footage of the immediate aftermath on his Instagram page saying ‘I could have been dead’ as an incredibly apologetic man tells McGregor how sorry he is.
The 34-year-old McGregor’s crumpled turquoise racing bike could be seen on the ground with a grey car several yards ahead.
McGregor, who is returning to UFC later this year, was involved in the incident along a leafy country road, thought to be in Ireland.
The MMA fighter, who goes by the name The Notorious, said he was hit from behind as he was cycling along the road.
Filming after the accident, the champion Irish mixed martial artist, who is set to coach in The Ultimate Fighter show, appeared breathless and shaken.
At one point, the video shows McGregor’s ripped cycling pants and what looks to be a wound on his upper leg.
The man who appeared to be in the car can be heard apologising to McGregor, having pulled over to the side of the road several yards ahead.
McGregor says: ‘All good mate, all good. Don’t worry about it.’
He adds, ‘I could have been dead’, but he tells the man ‘all good mate’.
‘I’m totally sorry – seriously,’ the other man says.
The MMA champion wrote on his Instagram page: ‘Got a bang off a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me.
‘Full speed straight through me. Thank you God, it wasn’t my time.
‘Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.’
McGregor showed his crumpled blue racing bike in the boot of the man’s car as he was driven home
McGregor continued to film from the passenger seat of the man’s car, who introduced himself as Nick.
The shell-shocked Irishman points his camera into the boot to show his battered up bicycle after the collision.
‘I’m still here, thank God. That’s all that matters,’ McGregor says.
Messages of support and concern flooded in for the Irishman after he posted the footage of the incident.
One Instagram user wrote: ‘Be careful Conor. Glad you’re okay.’
Another wrote: ‘Glad you’re ok man, wtf!’
A third wrote: ‘Jaysus lucky man.’
A fourth read: ‘Handled it extremely well!’
