An Edo State-based couple simply identified as Papa and Mama Gabriel have been arrested by police operatives for allegedly torturing and inflicting serious bodily injuries on their house help
The incident reportedly occurred around Ikpoba Hill, in Ikpoba/Okha local government area of the state.
The eight-year-old girl (name withheld), is said to be a daughter of Mama Gabriel’s older sister.
News of the meanly act was reported in a 1 minute, 17 seconds video that has gone viral.
The victim is seen in the video with cuts all over her body.
A voices could be heard in the video asking the girl, “who did this to you”, to which she responded, “Mummy Gabriel”.
“This is molestation, look at her body they cut-cut her and went to hide in church. Bring them out, we will burn down the church. Your duty is to hand them over to the Police,” the voice added.
It was gathered that the couple were later arrested by the police operatives after some good Nigerians reported the incident at the Oregbeni Police Division, in Ikpoba Hill.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, Moses Joel Yamu, who confirmed the incident, said: “The Command is in receipt of this incident. The victim is currently undergoing treatment while investigation continues.”
