Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja has barred the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from entering the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in the capital.
The order came in a judgment on a suit filed by a faction of the party loyal to Nyesom Wike. Justice Abdulmalik directed security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, to ensure the protection of the faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed as they access the party secretariat.
The judge ruled that the national convention held by the Turaki-led group on November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, along with the election of party officials, was null and void, as it violated existing court orders.
She noted that the convention breached Section 287(3) of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended) and the PDP’s own constitution. Justice Abdulmalik further condemned the expulsion of Wike and his allies during the 2025 convention, describing it as a direct affront to the court’s authority.
“I considered the expulsion of the members of the plaintiffs as not only an affront to the subsisting judgment, but also a direct assault on a democratic and principled society,” the judge stated.
