The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has discharged former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, after the Federal Government confirmed full recovery of the funds linked to the case
Justice Hamza Muazu, who presided over the matter on Thursday, struck out the charge filed against Oduah and her co-defendant, Gloria Odita, following the prosecution’s acknowledgment that the alleged proceeds had been returned.
“The charge dated October 13, 2025, is hereby struck out, and the defendants are accordingly discharged.”
The Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), told the court he was acting on the directive of the Attorney-General of the Federation, confirming that the government had received the value tied to the case.
“I have the instruction of the Attorney-General of the Federation to inform your lordship that the state confirms receipt of the value of the subject matter of this charge.”
With that development, the prosecution reviewed the charge to retain only two firms — Sobora International Limited and Global Offshore Marine Limited — removing Oduah and Odita as defendants.
Lawyers to the former minister, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), and to Odita, Wale Balogun (SAN), urged the court to formally drop the case against their clients.
Although the prosecution noted that Oduah and Odita could still appear as representatives of the companies for plea purposes, the court clarified that no conviction would be recorded against them, as their roles were limited to representation.
The proceedings were briefly paused to resolve issues around representation, after which both parties agreed that only the companies would remain as defendants, with designated representatives appearing on their behalf.
