Court Stops Proposed Increment In Electricity Tariffs

A Federal High Court in Lagos has stopped the Nigerian
Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) from increasing its tariff which it
had proposed would start on Monday, 1st of June.
A Lagos-based lawyer after NERC proposed the increment had
dragged them to court insisting it will cause more hardship for Nigerians and
there was absolutely no need for electricity tariff to be increased at this
    period.

It will be recalled that, the Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam
Amadi, had at a recent press conference in Abuja, disclosed the plan by the
commission to implement an upward review of electricity tariff payable by
    Nigerians.
