Nigerian artist, Crayon, has bravely shared his personal struggles with health issues and depression, revealing a tough journey that almost claimed his life

Despite his prolific music output, Crayon faced a dark period in 2020, where his songs failed to gain traction, leading to depression.
The pandemic’s onset further hindered his progress, stifling the momentum of his club hit “Gbona”. In 2022, his struggles escalated, and he experienced a breakdown that brought him perilously close to death.
Crayon considers his recovery a miracle, acknowledging that many don’t survive such ordeals.
His courageous testimony sheds light on the often-hidden challenges faced by artists and the importance of supporting mental health.
Crayon said, “2020 was one of my darkest years in the game. I dropped about seven songs and no one gained traction. I remember when I dropped ‘Gbona,’ it was about to take off then COVID-19 struck and everything shut down. And ‘Gbona’ was a club banger. I dropped the video, but it still didn’t pick up. I was dropping songs biweekly.
“I had a breakdown in early 2022. People don’t come back from that sh*t, me standing right here now is a miracle. I almost lost my life,” he added.
