The premiere of ‘Wicked‘, directed by Jon M. Chu, took place at the State Theatre in Sydney, Australia, and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles last week, kicking off a global promotional tour that includes interviews, appearances, and social media posts.
Amid their promotional push, the film’s stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, issued apologies for the tears they’ve been shedding as they discuss their friendship and the film.
“We’ve cried 500 times today. And honestly, this is a PSA. So sorry guys,” Grande, 31, said in a video shared by E! News, while talking to Erivo.
Her British co-star, Erivo, 37, responded, “It is what it is. There’s just nothing we can do about it.”
Grande added with a laugh, “I can’t imagine, and you know what? If you’re going to comment saying how annoying it is, I’ll say it first. I said it first. I’m annoyed. I’m tired. My tear ducts… I’m tired, emotionally tired.”
Erivo then explained, “We’ve come through a massive, massive thing and we’ve really stuck together.”
