Social media influencer Solomon Buchi and Daddy Freeze goes exchange words over mockery of Pastor Emmanuel Iren’s response to comments made by former presidential candidate Peter Obi
During a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Obi expressed his hope that Nigerians would shift their focus from church vigils to spending more time working. Pastor Iren disagreed, encouraging Christians to continue participating in vigils as part of their faith.
Freeze took to social media, sarcastically commenting on Iren’s defense of vigils. He wrote, “Peter Obi don touch the pocket of Iren o. The anointing is annoyed. What an annoying thing. Baba submit PowerPoint presentation to defend his enterprise. Nigeria needs more night shifts than night vigils, and that’s on point. Pasta dey shalaye, make office no go close for him head. The two most profitable and recession-proof business ventures in Nigeria are politics and religion.”
In response, Buchi criticized Freeze on X (formerly Twitter), accusing him of hypocrisy and questioning his credibility to comment on the issue. He wrote, “Daddy Freeze, you’re talking? You literally hang around a community leader who calls himself a pastor. You get material favors from him and your many influential friends, whom you sycophantically attach yourself to. You dined with Hushpuppi, and your brand of journalism revolves around befriending people for personal gains. Please, stop talking when serious people are sharing opinions. You better focus on eating at ‘Pastor’ Tobi’s birthday party.”
Buchi also took aim at Freeze’s failed online church venture, writing, “Sorry, did you not open an online church, an association of jokers where your everyday gospel was bashing pastors? How has that ministry thrived? Hasn’t it packed up? Free the sheeple? Not you blatantly disrespecting Apostle Emmanuel Iren. We will call you when it requires setting up a ring light.”
In a direct response, Daddy Freeze fired back at Buchi, claiming he had changed since marrying his wife and moving to the UK. Freeze wrote, “Solomon, since your wife presumably paid your bride price and whisked you off to the UK, you have become haughty and have ascribed to yourself a vacuous sense of importance. When you were begging me live on my platform for handouts, you were meek and forlorn.”
He continued, accusing Buchi of hypocrisy: “When you were begging for money to help your miserable life, calling out your account number on my IG live for my friends to assist you, did you question where the money came from? Alatenuje, Elebi. I also clearly recall you pleading with me to assist you with promoting your page when IG took your account down and now you’re vilifying the same FreeTheSheeple movement? The biblical Solomon was wise, you on the other hand are otherwise, biting the fingers that fed you.”
Freeze concluded with a jab at Buchi’s involvement in Iren’s defense: “Peter Obi was right on the night vigil issue and Pastor Iren has even apologized. Whetin come be your own? If Pastor Iren has a problem with me, he can respond to me directly like he has done countless times in the past, instead of sending someone’s male housewife to do the job on his behalf. I sincerely hope he paid, so you don’t end up running online errands for free.”
