Zainab Bayero, daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has opened up about the struggles her family has faced since her father’s de.ath in 2014
In an emotional video shared on social media, Zainab revealed that she, her mother, and her younger brother have been living in difficult conditions, with no stable home or source of income. She described their ordeal, saying they were stranded near Eko Hotel in Lagos at 1 am with no support.
“This is me, daughter of the Emir of Kano, on the streets of Lagos—unsafe, stranded. No one cares if I live or die. I deserve to feel safe and protected,” she said.
Zainab explained that her father left her with no education or resources, adding that the weight of providing for her family has become unbearable. “They’ve turned me into an urchin, a girl who once had so many dreams. I’m a woman with nothing—no job, no degree, no home. I’m lost and stranded,” she lamented.
She also expressed frustration over the lack of help from influential individuals she had reached out to, including the president, the governor, and the current Emir of Kano, Sanusi.
“I’ve pleaded for support, but it’s obvious no one cares if I live or die. I can’t keep doing this. The burden is too much on me,” she added, hinting at her despair over the situation.
The video, which is less than five minutes long, highlights the dire circumstances Zainab and her family are enduring, sparking widespread reactions online.
