Davido has announced a temporary break from his music career, saying he will focus on supporting his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
He explained that the decision is not only because of family relations but also because he believes in the work being done and the need to see it through. He said the goal is to help secure victory through influence and active support, especially among young people.
He said:
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish.
The job is not done. We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths.”
Davido’s move shows a temporary shift in focus from entertainment to political engagement as the 2026 Osun election approaches, with youth mobilisation playing a central role in the campaign strategy.
