Davido recently looked back on how his friendship with Zlatan started, tracing it back to a period when he was in Angola.
According to him, that was around the time Nigeria’s street music movement was taking off. Even though he was away from home, he was keeping up with what was happening and found himself enjoying Zlatan’s music just like everyone else.
“I was in Angola when street music got big in Nigeria. I danced to Zlatan’s song, and got my first 1M-views on Instagram. When I got back to Nigeria, we became close and started making music together”, he said.
For Davido, it all started with simply enjoying the music from a distance. By the time he returned to Nigeria, he and Zlatan connected, built a friendship, and eventually began working together in the studio.
Looking back, he sees it as one of those moments where a simple interaction grew into a lasting musical relationship.
