Nigerian comedian and content creator De General has advised citizens to shift their attention toward getting their Permanent Voter Cards and taking part in elections, rather than organizing street actions in response to insecurity in the country.
He shared this view during a livestream conversation with TikToker Jo Blaq, where he questioned the effectiveness of public demonstrations in bringing lasting solutions.
He pointed to past experiences, arguing that such actions have not delivered meaningful outcomes and have sometimes ended in tragedy.
“Staging a prot£st won’t solve anything. There is no eff£ct in staging a prot£st. The last time we prot£sted, l!ves were l0st but they said nothing happened,” he said.
Instead, he encouraged Nigerians to work within the electoral system by registering to vote and choosing leaders they believe can handle the country’s challenges.
“The best thing we should do is to get our PVCs and run a free and fair el£ction. We should vote in who we want,” he added.
His comments come amid growing concerns over insecurity in different parts of Nigeria.
