A deadly storm named Gamane hit Madagascar, leaving 18 killed and thousands forced to leave their homes, according to authorities.
The storm brought strong winds and heavy rain, leading to flooding in many areas. Roads and bridges collapsed, making it difficult for people to move around safely.
Three people were injured, and four others remain missing. With average winds of 150 km per hour and gusts reaching 210 km per hour, Gamane made landfall north of Vohémar on Wednesday.
Despite dissipating on Thursday afternoon, the cyclone caused heavy rainfall, flooding, and infrastructure damage, including collapsed roads and bridges in the northern region of Madagascar.
Although the storm has weakened, its impact continues to be felt across the region.
