Reports claiming that all members of the House of Representatives from Delta State defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, have been debunked

The lawmakers refuted the claims following widespread speculation triggered by alleged announcements during a plenary session. They clarified that no such mass defection occurred.
In a joint response, the lawmakers cited ongoing commitment to the PDP, dismissing the reports as false and politically motivated. Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, and Majority Leader Emeka Nwaobi reiterated that all 22 PDP members in the state assembly remain loyal to the party.
“The PDP in Delta is strong, united, and fully intact,” Guwor stated, urging the public to ignore misleading reports.
While some individual defections have occurred in Delta State recently, including high-profile figures like Senator Ned Nwoko and Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the claim that all PDP federal lawmakers from the state have crossed over to the APC is untrue.
