Media personality Denrele Edun has released the last voice note late Alexx Ekubo sent to him, revealing that one of the things he finds hardest to accept is that the actor was still looking out for others while battling his own health challenges
Denrele said he recently listened again to the last voice note Alexx sent him from his hospital bed and has struggled to come to terms with the actor’s passing.
He explained that what hurts the most is knowing Alexx was dealing with issues privately yet still found the strength to check on him and offer words of comfort.

The TV personality also reflected on their last professional encounter during a movie shoot in Port Harcourt late last year. According to him, Alexx appeared physically weak but remained upbeat, constantly cheering up those around him despite production setbacks.
Denrele recounted meeting Alexx for the first time in 2010 while serving as a judge at the Mr Nigeria pageant. Although Alexx emerged first runner-up, he was determined to make a bigger impact than the eventual winner.
“This is the last Voice-Note ALEXX sent me (from his sick bed).
And that’s the part I’m struggling with.
Because while he was carrying battles I knew nothing about, he still found the strength to reach out and comfort me.
That’s who ALEXX was.”
“2010 I met ALEXX whilst judging the Mr Nigeria pageant.
This ambitious 1st Runner-Up came to me determined to be more visible than the winner.
Trust ALEX…
He didn’t just get seen.
He became unforgettable.”
“After we landed, everyone was expressing their vexation at the Production logistics and all.
And then Alexx walked to us, Frail looking but pacifying everyone.
Cracking jokes.
Lifting spirits.
Making sure everyone was okay.
Looking back now, that was his superpower.”
Denrele fondly remembered the playful nicknames Alexx had for his friends, saying he called him “Rele” and often addressed him as “NNE!” during phone conversations.
As Alexx was laid to rest, Denrele said he chooses to believe the actor has reunited with his late friend Goldie Harvey.
“Those silly nicknames. Those private jokes.
That’s what death steals.
Not just the person.
But the voice that called your name differently from everyone else.”
“Today, they lay my friend to rest.
And somewhere, I choose to believe Goldie has already found him.
The music is loud.
The laughter is endless.
And they’re both dancing #Skibobo while the rest of us stand here missing them terribly.
Rest well, ALEXX.”
