Devoted dog Blackie was forced to watch as his companion was
struck by a passing vehicle as they played in the street in Yuen Long, Hong
Kong, at around 4pm yesterday. But instead of fleeing in terror to mourn the
loss of his pal, he risked his own life by remaining next to the dog’s corpse,
protecting it from passing cars.

A local resident who arrived on the scene at around 7pm said
a kindhearted motorist eventually stopped and dragged the dog’s body to the
pavement. Refusing to leave, Blackie stood guard over his pal’s body for 10
hours.

At around 2am, the resident, whose last name is Li, finally
managed to get animal control workers to come and take the dog’s body away,
reports Shaghaiist. But even with his friend gone, Blackie watched over the
