Sean “Diddy” Combs’ has been found guilty
After seven weeks in the courtroom for the rap mogul’s s3x trafficking trial, a New York jury has now found him guilty on two out of five charges following more than roughly 12 hours of deliberation
After the jury announced its determination on July 2, Combs—who pleaded not guilty to s8x trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, s8x trafficking by force, fr6ud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in pr8stitution—was convicted of prostitution-related offenses but acquitted of the s8x trafficking and racketeering charges.
The prosecution had called 34 witnesses over 29 days, including Combs’ ex-girlfriends Cassie Ventura and “Jane,” who went by a pseudonym during the trial, as well as former employees and law enforcement officials.
After prosecutors rested their case June 24, the defense concluded in about 20 minutes by submitting evidence and stipulations on behalf of their client.
Combs himself didn’t take the stand as he confirmed to Judge Arun Subramanian that it was “solely” his decision not to testify. In fact, the defense didn’t call forward any witnesses in their case.
With the jury’s decision looming ahead, prosecutors filed a letter to the judge, requesting an amendment to their theories of attempted arson and k!dnapping.
Although Combs is still facing the same charges, the filing noted that simplifying the language “not only serves the purposes of streamlining the instructions but also will avoid any confusion.”
