A dismissed Nigerian Army personnel popularly known as “Soja Boy” has stepped into entrepreneurship, unveiling a new clothing brand called “Giran Wears”, just weeks after his exit from military service sparked national debate.

The former soldier, identified in reports as Rotimi Olamilekan, became widely known after a viral video in which he called on Nigerian political leaders to allow their children join the military and experience frontline realities. The video triggered massive reactions across social media and eventually led to disciplinary action from the military.

The Nigerian Army later dismissed him from service, stating that his removal was not solely based on his comments, but on breaches of military discipline and violations of social media regulations. According to official statements, his actions included unauthorized media appearances and misuse of military identity, which the Army said contravened its code of conduct.

Despite the controversy surrounding his dismissal, Soja Boy has now re-emerged in a different direction fashion and lifestyle branding. His newly launched label, Giran Wears, marks his entry into the streetwear and creative fashion industry. The brand was unveiled alongside a fashion house initiative, which he presented as a fresh start after his military career.

In his earlier public statements, he maintained that his viral video was driven by concern over soldiers’ welfare and national security challenges, claims that the Army rejected, insisting that troops are adequately equipped and properly remunerated under structured systems.

The launch of Giran Wears is now being seen by supporters as his transition from military life to entrepreneurship, while critics describe it as a continuation of his effort to stay in the public spotlight.

For many Nigerians, the story reflects a broader theme how viral social media moments can rapidly reshape personal trajectories, turning former servicemen into public figures with influence beyond the barracks
