Members of the Distillers and Blenders Association of Nigeria on Friday staged a protest at the Lagos State office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control over the ban on the production and sale of alcoholic beverages in sachets
The distillers were joined by members of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, who marched to the NAFDAC office carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs.

Messages on the placards included “Stop destroying local manufacturers,” “N2 trillion investment deserves protection,” “5.5 million Nigerians cannot be pushed to the streets,” and “The Renewed Hope Agenda must work for all Nigerians.”
As of the time of filing this report, the protesters had not addressed the media, while officials of NAFDAC were yet to speak with the demonstrators.
The protest is linked to the ongoing dispute over the enforcement of the ban on the manufacture and sale of sachet alcoholic drinks.
