Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records, has shared his strategy for releasing music in an overpopulated market

He revealed during an interview with Fisayo Fosudo that he avoids releasing his artists’ music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake, considering it potentially detrimental to their success.
To avoid competition, Mavin Records is shifting from traditional Friday releases to Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Don Jazzy explained that releasing music on the same day as these prominent artists could lead to overshadowing and reduced visibility.
This approach aims to give Mavin’s artists, including Rema, Ayra Starr, and others, a better chance to stand out in the streaming era.
“We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artistes dropping a song].
“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
